On the 12th February 2022, Student/Young Pugwash (SYP) UK will host its next online Annual Conference on the theme of "Technology & Peace." This event is open to all. It will be held on Zoom. See the full agenda.

With Congress appropriating funds for new and upgraded nuclear weapons and delivery systems, the need to counter these misguided policies has become acute. This conference will focus on coordinating efforts of advocates, and expanding outreach to organizations and constituencies outside the world of nuclear disarmament advocates.

Student Pugwash is co-sponsoring the upcoming Thinkers Lodge Summit on Nuclear and Climate Crises, organized by the Centre for Local Prosperity. More information from the Summit's announcement:
Student Pugwash provided materials to the Think We Must installation at Central Michigan University as a member of their "thought community." Think We Must investigates the philosophical, ethical, legal and spiritual dimensions of organized violence and the ways in which inquiry and rational activity are used in its service, with a special focus on the testing of nuclear weapons, their use in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the International Law that has developed in response.
It's worth noting that we effectively have two blogs for updates about goings-on here and Pugwash discussions. This is where we publish for the general public, but we also have general interest and Pugwash-topical discussions running on our collaborative website for members. A subset of that will be published here, to give everyone an idea of what's going on over there.
Now that we have our blog set up here, we'll be putting news and updates on our own site—but there's some interesting older stuff posted on our Facebook page, if you want to go browsing. Most recently there's information about fellowship and internship opportunities, as well as some fun stuff like this:
If you've just signed up as a member, or you've been grandfathered in as a previous donor, you'll shortly receive a few emails from us. (One of the things we're working on: automating this better so they go out immediately. Bear with us.) You'll receive a membership login for this site, which will give you more options to explore what we're doing, and more importantly, add to what we're doing—for example, letting us know about Pugwash-style events in your area that other Pugwash members might want to attend.
